The 1971 unsolved murder of Celia “Beth” van Zanten has always bothered Alaska State Troopers who investigated the serial-murders of the late Robert Hansen. In my first visit to Alaska to research Hansen’s crimes, AST Maj. Walter Gilmour took me by Beth’s house in one of his initial introductions. He was visibly shaken, even then, more than a decade after the crime.
