Did You Know?
One unresolved bit of sesame is Robert Hansen’s deeds during Independence Days past. Indeed, the Fourth of July seems to be a time of recurring mischief in the Hansen’s life. The first time it came up was in 1973, when he asked his parole officer for permission to take the holiday to visit Seward, AK, with his boat. Permission was granted. Hansen later admitted that he went alone because his wife, Darla, was susceptible to seasickness and didn’t much like boating.
That was the weekend that Megan Emerick was reported missing. She was never found.
Two years later, in 1975, Hansen — still on parole — once more asked permission to visit Seward. Once more, his request was granted. More ominously, Hansen asked a friend if he knew any women he could party with in Seward.
Once again, a young woman went missing. Her name was Mary Thill.
Two almost back-to-back instances of missing women seems more than a coincidence. Our open sesame here: Robert Hansen is the prime suspect.
