In Craig: The Video

My philosophy has always been, “if it moves, it’s a video.” That’s never been more true than now, in the smartphone era, when almost everyone carries a video camera in their pocket.

Of course, creative souls have long found ways to bring movement to still images. One of them, Ken Burns of “The Civil War” fame, even has an effect named after him. Think of the Ken Burns Effect as a way to bring historic images to life. It’s a good one and, in truth, I like the Ken Burns effect so much I’m tempted to use it across every frame. Just kidding. Variety is the spice.

At any rate, the following video features at least one Ken Burns effect and is intended to serve as an introduction to the village of Craig, Alaska, where “What Happened in Craig” took place. Since I wager that few of you will make it to Craig any time soon, here’s a peek.
